March 18, 2015 | THIRTY-SECOND DAY – FOUNTAIN REPAIRS
Leave your thoughts | Categorised in: Fountain WorksToday was the thirty-second day of the repairs to the fountain. Here is what was done, followed by some photos:
City Parks Department continued assembling the main pump and the platform it sits on, and the associated plumbing in the “vault” for the fountain. They also secured the steps with brackets and cut off sharp metal corners on the unistruts and covered them with protective foam padding.
The installation of the pump and equipment is complete. Now the Electrical Department staff will need to see what supplies they need to hook up the two pumps, etc.
Yesterday the California Water Resources Control Board put out expanded emergency water conservation regulations. They are continuing to prohibit “operating a fountain or decorative water feature, unless the water is part of a recirculating system.” Fortunately, this fountain does have a recirculating water system:
We will have to keep the fountain drained until the repairs are completed. Thank you for your patience, and for your help in making this happen. Please follow my progress reports. Scroll down on this blog for details on the work and why it’s needed.
