February 3, 2015 | FOUNTAIN REPAIRS REPORT
Leave your thoughts | Categorised in: Fountain News & Updates, Fountain WorksToday there were no repairs to the fountain. City staff is working on a traffic safety plan that will keep the staff safe as they are working from their vehicles near the fountain. Repairs will resume when the plan has been worked out. My reports will continue at that point.
City Parks Department has discovered that grinding off the painted surface of the fountain pool has turned out to be harder than originally planned. They are looking at other grinding machines that can do the work faster. Also, grinding the previous paint off of the sides is much more labor intensive than removing paint from the bottom.
City staff is making good progress on removing the paint on the bottom, and they still have a way to go. Since they have been focusing on the bottom, they have not really begun to remove the paint from the sides. They are experimenting with different tools. We expect that this phase of removing paint will take at least another 4-5 days.
We will have to keep the fountain drained until the repairs are completed. Thank you for your patience, and for your help in making this happen. Please follow my daily progress reports. Scroll down on this blog for details on the work and why it’s needed.
