October 24, 2018 | Fountain Fixed and Running Again
2 Comments | Categorised in: UncategorizedA quick update: The electrical work seems to have reset the timers that run the pumps that run the fountain, so it was not running this morning (Thursday, Oct. 25). It will be addressed and back in full operation soon.
Friends and neighbors:
After several weeks of waiting for parts to arrive, the electrical system of the Fountain at the Circle has been repaired. The fountain is up and running and fully illuminated in the evening again.
Many thanks to FOFW board member and maintenance crew chief Leo Rainer for his diligence in tracking down the needed supplies, and to City of Berkeley parks maintenance chief Bruce Pratt and electricians Tom Hartman and Dave Beasley for getting the repairs done.
And thanks to the supporters of Friends of the Fountain and Walk, whose generosity helps make these needed repairs possible. Our mission is to share responsibility with the city to keep these landmarks in good repair for all to enjoy, and support from the community in Northbrae and beyond is a key to fulfilling that.

I drive or walk by the fountain at least once a day, and every single time I do it gives me pleasure–undiminished by the passage of time.
Sandy: Thanks for your note. That is the reaction we hope most everyone has when they pass by.
