Happy holidays!
As we noted earlier this year, Friends of the Fountain and Walk marked its 30th anniversary in 2023. Created as an all-volunteer nonprofit in 1993 by a group of neighbors, it has served as community caretaker for the Fountain at The Circle and Fountain Walk ever since.
This week, Berkeley’s community news site, Berkeleyside, took note of FOFW’s anniversary in an article it published Dec. 26. We appreciate Berkeleyside letting the wider community know a bit about what we do.
You can read the article here: FOFW celebrates 30th anniversary.
As always, we thank you for your support of FOFW. If you’d like to make a tax-deductible donation before the end of the year, you can do so securely online via our Donate page, or send a check to Friends of the Fountain and Walk, P.O. Box 7343, Berkeley CA 94707.
Best wishes for the new year!

WOW ! How many thousands of folks are standing there? (You’ll need more busses!)
Hello, Johnette. I think the estimate of the crowd in that photo — the day the new fountain was dedicated in September 1996 — was 3,000 people. Not sure The Circle will ever be full of so many people at once again. You can read about that day on our website, here: https://www.berkeleyfountain.org/the-fountain/history-of-the-fountain/
