Friends and neighbors:

Just a note at the end of this challenging year to say thank you to our community for all the support you have shown Friends of the Fountain and Walk through these trying times.

What we do is a very small and modest undertaking when considered against the backdrop of the many major issues and concerns of our time. But it is clear from your continued support that you value the neighborhood landmarks we help the city maintain – the Fountain at The Circle and Fountain Walk – as much as ever.

2021 will mark the 25th anniversary of the restoration of the Fountain at The Circle. It is our hope that we will be able to mark that milestone in a meaningful way. And, perhaps, to resume the kinds of events we had just begun to offer in the “before times”: walking tours of the fountain/walk neighborhood and presentations about the history of Northbrae. All that, of course, is dependent on seeing the coronavirus brought under control so such gatherings are safe again.

For now, our all-volunteer nonprofit will continue to do what it can to ensure the continued health of these historic landmarks and maintenance of the surrounding area. Tomorrow, New Year’s Day, volunteers will be out to remove the holiday decorations from the fountain. Soon after, the fountain should be flowing again as normal.

We wish you a happy new year and a safe and healthy 2021! To learn more about FOFW – and how to donate, volunteer or join – please go to those links on our website: berkeleyfountain.org.
